Royal Sports Medicine Centre Alleviates Concerns for Injured Athletes

Injuries are the most terrifying nightmare for athletes. Once an injury strikes, the world seems to grind to a halt for an athlete, regardless of how vast their talent is or how consistent their performance has been. This is especially true for severe, long-lasting injuries that linger for years, which can severely hinder or even end an athlete’s career.

Regrettably, there has been a lack of specialized hospitals in Indonesia dedicated to handling athlete injuries in an intensive and continuous manner. This concern inspired the establishment of the Royal Sports Medicine Centre, located on the 2nd floor of Royal Progress Hospital.

Founded on May 20, 2014, Royal Sports Medicine Centre holds a mission to provide sustainable medical solutions that support and enhance the performance of injured athletes and sports enthusiasts, helping them return to their sporting activities and foster a healthy, quality modern lifestyle.

“Royal Sports Medicine Centre is the best and most sustainable medical solution (a one-stop service) to support and optimize the performance of athletes and sports practitioners so they can return to their activities and enhance a healthy lifestyle,” said Dr. Bobby N. Nelwan, SpOT, one of the leading physicians at Royal Sports Medicine Centre.

The medical center offers three core categories of services: treatment for sports-related injuries, performance enhancement programs for athletes, and services for individuals pursuing a healthy lifestyle. “Services for sports injuries include arthroscopic surgery (reconstruction or replacement for shoulder, hip, knee, and foot), joint pain, injuries, stiffness, tears, inflammation, sports dislocations, and physiotherapy services,” he explained.

Additionally, to boost athletic performance, Royal Sports Medicine Centre is equipped with fitness testing, body composition analysis, pain management, injury prevention programs, nutritional consultation, sports massage, physiotherapy, and an athlete spa. These services are backed by comprehensive facilities including a gym with personal trainers, musculoskeletal ultrasound, dynamometers, stem cell injections, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy, radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, and inpatient rooms.

One of the most common injuries among athletes is an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear. With the presence of this dedicated sports medical center, Indonesia is expected to effectively address the health challenges faced by its athletes, whose capabilities rival those of international competitors.

“Our goal is to help injured athletes return to their baseline performance so they can continue to represent Indonesia on the international stage,” stated Dr. Bobby.

With Royal Sports Medicine Centre serving as a dedicated hub for injury management and catering to the general public’s wellness needs through sports, athletes no longer need to fear injury setbacks.

Since its inception two years ago, Royal Sports Medicine Centre has assisted numerous injured athletes in recovering and returning to high-level competition.

Among the prominent football players who have undergone injury rehabilitation at Royal Sports Medicine Centre are Boaz Solossa, Antoni Putro Nugroho, Lukas Wellem Mandowen, Imanuel Wanggai, Bio Paulin Pierre, M.
